I reflected on this image for a long time, after shooting it. I tend to do this when I want an image to look and feel a very specific way; it was so important for me to get the 'feel' right on this one, as the experience of capturing it had such a profound impact on me.

It really is impossible for me to convey in words how it felt to hike up Beinn a' Chrulaiste in the dark with the snow falling around me, with the genuine majesty of this mountain appearing from the darkness.

I’ve tried my best to show you, though.

In the complete solitude of my experience on the top of this mountain, standing behind my tripod as the night faded, the memories and records that this land holds felt like something I was witnessing first hand. Infamous scenes from our Scottish history playing out in the valley below.
